Hello there! Thanks for taking time to read my musings, experiences, foibles and life lessons.
Grand Nana, that’s me, the woman behind the keyboard, among other things. I’m a “leaning towards 60 grandmother in a sleepy little fishing town on the coast of Massachusetts and raising an extraordinary 10 year old grandson. The GP, or Grand Prince, as he is sometimes known has lived with the Spouse and I since he was four and we formally adopted him in the summer of ’08. No, we are not crazed, empty-nest needy or trying to recapture our youth nor live vicariously through his! The Big Guy in the Sky has decided we need to share our lives and love with the Grand Prince and who are we to argue The Boss? We laugh together, we cry together, we put one foot in front of the other and we get through it all with the love and blessings of a great family and friends and the gift of allowing a loving, kind, curious, engaging little boy open our world again to the joys and challenges of parenting.
But I’m more than a Grand Nana. I’m a computer geek, a lover of good food, good wine and good friends, a professional jazz vocalist, a Reiki Master practitioner, an Angel Intuitive, a blogger, a professed Facebook junkie and employed full time in the IT department of a child care agency. I’ve been married to my best friend for almost 35 years and he’s the anchor in the harbor of this marriage.
The Spouse and I have raised three kids of our own, fostered a few others over the years and managed to come away unscathed, a little wiser and emotionally intact (for the most part). We’re more than satisfied that we gave the best we had to give to our own as well as those in a tough situation who needed a kind word, a warm hug and a loving hand.
I’ve also worked with other parents as a parenting educator and support group facilitator and have learned a few tricks of the trade, as it were; the most important of which is a sense of humor. Lose it and you’re done. Hone it, and you’ll laugh until you cry. Or visa verse.
Recently I’ve begun to seek a deeper meaning to the spiritual side of my life at least how it pertains to me and my own path and mission on this earthly plane. I’m learning a lot! It should be interesting so stick around!
Hang in here with me and I promise a chuckle or two and maybe some advice and hindsight wisdom. Please comment on any or all of my posts, I’d love to hear your thoughts! If you’ve got a blog as well, post a link or shoot me an email.
Peace, blessings, love and light!

I think the love of writing is inherited! I have not ventured far into blogging yet but was so happy to see you have. I’m enjoying reading your adventures as a Grand Nana

You rock, Grand Nana!
I am the mom of 5 and nana of 1. I do a blog called NanaHood (www.nanahood.com) I am writing to ask if you would please mention my blog on your site and also ask anyone who is interested to please fill out a survey about grandparenting.
You can get to the survey by going to NanaHood and on the right hand side of the page is a box that says Check It Out- You will see where it mentions a book giveaway and a survey. The book give away is this Saturday if you are interested.
I would really appreciate your help. The information from the survey will remain anonymous and will be used on NanaHood, and at an online magazine and possibly a book.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi Grand Nana,
I found and enjoyed your blog – Grand Nana~Parenting the Second Time ‘Round – and wanted to see if you could post about our personalized kids video (perhaps in your Christmas Shopping Recommendations if you do one, in another blog post, or a link on your site). I’ve included some info below to help you see what we’re all about.
We create personalized Christmas DVDs for kids age 2-8. The video is personal, easy to buy, quite affordable, and very memorable, having received rave reviews from both parents and kids.
You can learn more here:
* watch a trailer or order for the special kids in your life – http://www.santa-dvd.com/
* here is the full video plus trailers – http://www.youtube.com/user/ekroll
In return, we could include a link on our site in our mentions/supporters section, possibly run a promotion for your readers, and if we make any sales from your readers we’d gladly send you a personalized video for a special child in your life.
Please let me know what you think, if you’re interested, and if so, how many readers/visitors you have.
Thanks and (soon) Happy Holidays!
best,
-Sarah

Hi Sarah!
I watched the trailer and LOVE the idea of a personalized vid for kids. I’d be happy to add a link to my page and give you a mention in the next blog post.
Congrats on a very innovative idea!

Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering if you knew of any widgets I could add to my blog that automatically tweet my newest twitter updates. I’ve been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was hoping maybe you would have some experience with something like this. Please let me know if you run into anything. I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to your new updates.
